The Plaintiff, a 26-year-old female, fell to her death from a rear fire escape in New London, Connecticut. At the time of her fall, she was severely intoxicated as a result of being served large quantities of alcohol at an adjacent bar. The fire escape was dangerous and had been condemned as a hazard to those using it. The property owners, however, failed to repair or remove the dangerous fire escape prior to the incident. The Plaintiff’s Estate filed claims against the bar and property owners for their reckless over-service of alcohol and failure to maintain the property and fire escape in a safe manner. The lawsuit settled as to all Defendants for a total of $750,000. Attorney Joe Barnes handled the case on behalf of The Reardon Law Firm.
