The Plaintiff, an 80-year-old male, left his house in Groton, Connecticut to get his mail, which was located in the mailbox across the street, at approximately 6 pm in December. The Plaintiff had his dog on a leash with him, a bright white Jack Russell Terrier. As he crossed the street, he was struck and killed by an approaching vehicle. The Defendant driver argued that the Plaintiff could not be see because he was wearing dark clothing. The Plaintiff was catapulted in the air, over the car, rushed to the Hospital and was pronounced dead due to a traumatic brain injury. Attorney Joe Barnes of The Reardon Law Firm settled the case against the Defendant driver for $500,000, the full amount of insurance coverage available.
