  |  Truck Accidents

When a tractor-trailer truck collides with a passenger vehicle, severe injuries can occur because of the significant size and weight of the truck as compared to the other vehicle.  If you are in a truck collision, safety should be your first priority.  Get help and, if you can, tend to those in need.  If possible, remember to gather information at the scene or have someone who is uninjured do so.

What to collect at the scene

It is important to make sure to collect important information after a truck collision happens.  Essential details to collect include:

  • The other driver’s insurance company and policy information
  • The other driver’s license information
  • The name of the trucking company
  • The other driver’s contact information, including name and phone number
  • Eyewitnesses contact information

Shoot photos or videos

It’s important to make sure that you or someone else documents the scene of the collision and any damages involved. It also can be helpful to document any injuries suffered by those involved.

Get an accident report

Law enforcement must file a report, which includes their initial investigation or conclusions about fault. The officer may gather additional information and may conduct an investigation, including a reconstruction of the collision. It is critical to get that report.
