A Super Lawyers Rising Star is a prestigious distinction awarded to outstanding attorneys who are either 40 years old or younger or have been practicing law for 10 years or less. While the Super Lawyers list recognizes only 5% of attorneys in a state, the Rising Stars list is even more selective, honoring just 2.5% of eligible attorneys.
Selection to the Rising Stars and Super Lawyers lists is based on a rigorous, multiphase evaluation process. Attorneys are first nominated by their peers, who are encouraged to identify lawyers they have personally observed in action, such as opposing counsel or co-counsel. Candidates then undergo an independent evaluation based on numerous indicators of professional achievement and peer recognition, including verdicts and settlements, professional activities, pro bono service, and scholarly contributions. Finally, candidates are reviewed by highly credentialed attorneys within their respective practice areas before final selections are made.
